Apply for this role

We design smart devices that go into production: wearables, wall and ceiling units, plug-in products. Draft angles, parting lines and unit cost shape the design as much as the brief does.

You will work closely with engineering, so the surfaces you draw come through the mould the way you intended.

What you will own

  • Concept directions through to one manufacturable design
  • CMF, surface and detail development against a cost target
  • Renders and accurate illustrations engineering can work from
  • Light and indicator language for connected devices
  • Staying with the design through DFM so the product that ships matches the intent

What we need

  • Three to eight years in industrial design for manufactured consumer products
  • A portfolio with at least one product that actually reached production
  • Fluency in surface modelling and a working understanding of injection moulding limits
  • You can explain a design decision in terms of cost as well as appearance

What helps

  • Connected or IoT devices
  • Small appliance or personal care categories
  • KeyShot or equivalent for presentation-grade output

Being straight with you

Most of this work is constrained by manufacturing, so a portfolio of concept work alone will not prepare you for it. A few products that actually reached production tells us more than a large body of concepts.
